Once complete, select Reboot system now using the Power button. It's a bit of a pain because it takes so long with backing up the phone and restoring it and while the apps get installed you have to log in (if you remember the password), setup all your email accounts again, etc. Select Factory data reset and tap the Power button. However, there are two precautionary features you can use to ensure you never get locked out again: you can use Samsung Find. Scroll down using the Volume Up and Down buttons. If you forgot the security PIN, pattern, or password for your Galaxy phone or tablet, and cannot access your device, you may need to factory reset your device to be able to use it again. Click the Power button to select the option. Use the Volume buttons to navigate to Wipe data/factory reset. When the Samsung logo appears on the display, release the buttons. Press and the Volume Up and Power button for up to five seconds. Then when I started the phone I could go into the basic settings to do a factory reset. 
These methods do not delete your data, user info, and personal files.
